Volunteer of the Year!
Jim Loeffler
Volunteering is fun and a great way to learn more about our three villages, engage in lifelong learning, and make new friends!
Here are some great ways YOU can become involved:
Become a Guide
Pratt House: Join our team of passionate, knowledgable guides who provide tours of EHS’ 1732 Pratt House on weekends or by appointment.
Walking Tours: We are always looking for enthusiastic volunteers to work as a team or individually to provide hour-long tours of Essex’s historic neighborhoods.
Collections
Join our group of collections volunteers on Tuesday or Thursday mornings at Hills Academy to catalogue Our Collection, respond to research requests, and develop exhibits.
Historic Properties
If you are interested historic craftsmanship and maintenance to historic standards, there is no better place to learn than Pratt House and Hills Academy. If “digging into” history is more your style, our colonial kitchen and polinator gardens are just the place to engage in your passion.
Special Events
Interested in volunteering but not looking for a regular gig? EHS needs volunteers at its many pop up programs and events each year. This is a great opportunity to meet new people as you act as the friendly face of EHS at community events.
Education
Our staff and volunteers enjoy our work in the schools to encourage local students to become budding historians. Do you have a background working with children? Please contact us for more information.
