Celebrating Town History is a Community Affair:
Volunteer!
We rely on the active engagement of our energetic volunteers to support all our programs.
Volunteering is fun and a great way to learn more about our three villages, engage in lifelong learning, and make new friends!
Here are some great ways YOU can become involved:
Collections
Join our group of volunteer archivists on Tuesday or Thursday mornings at Hills Academy to keep track of the many historic objects in Our Collection and respond to geneological research requests.
Become a Guide
We are always seeking friendly, enthusiastic volunteers to serve as guides at historic Pratt House or for our Historical Walking Tours. If you are enthusiastic about town history, interested in learning more, and eager to share your knowledge with others, this is the activity for you!
Education
Our staff and volunteers enjoy our work in the schools to encourage local students to become amateur historians. We share objects from our historic collection and supporting field trips that highlight town history. We encourage support from responsible adults who enjoy working with kids.
Historic Properties
(Upkeep, Gardens)
If you are interested historic craftsmanship and maintenance to historic standards, there is no better place to learn than Pratt House and Hills Academy. If “digging into” history is more your style, our colonial kitchen and polinator gardens are just the place to engage in your passion.
Special Events
Interested in volunteering but not looking for a regular gig? EHS needs volunteers at its many ad hoc programs and events each year. Contact us if you would be willing to chip in to man check-in tables at lecture series, to help with events like River Music, or to support fundraisers like our recent the Holiday House Tour.
Congratulations
to 2024 EHS
